Yosemite possibly the most beautiful place I have ever been, actually make that the most beautiful place.
When starting to plan our Californian road trip over a year ago, Yosemite was right at the top of my list of places I wanted to see. So desperate to visit, this was the first place on our itinerary.
Having only arrived in the US yesterday we didn’t feel up to driving the 8 hour round trip it takes from San Francisco. So in the end we booked a day trip through Viator. A 14-hour full day trip which involved waking at 5.30am in order to catch the coach; which luckily picked us up right in front of our hotel. All I can say is thank god for jetlag, otherwise not amount of alarms would have been able to wake me; I am the world’s heaviest sleeper.
First stop inside the park was Tunnel View, when thinking of Yosemite this is most definitely the image that springs to mind with a breath-taking view of El Capitan rising out of the valley. I still can’t believe speed climbers are able to scale this majestic cliff face in under 2 and a half hours, even thinking about it makes me light-headed.
Yosemite Valley Lodge was our next stop, here we were given 2 hours to explore and straight away we headed to the base of Yosemite Falls one of the tallest waterfalls in North America. Mesmerised by the water cascading down the rock face I could have easily spent hours just watching.
However with only a limited amount of time we continued our exploration seeking out the perfect spot to enjoy our picnic
Back on the coach and we headed to our final spots Merced River at Valley View, crystal clear waters set against a backdrop emerald green pasture. Then a scramble across an assault course of boulders to get close to Bridalveil Fall, not as imposing as Yosemite Falls but still equally as amazing.
If I was to visit again I would definitely spend a couple of days here, we left thinking there were so much more to discover.
Where is the most beautiful place you have visited?
